Seven Priceless Tips for Holiday Travel

Now that everyone is taking time off from work to travel and visit family and friends, we thought it would be a great idea to give some quick tips to help make the most of your holiday vacations. We’ve put together a quick list of simple tips to make the most of your holiday travel.

  1. Don’t over-plan: We all have big expectations of those few days every year we get to spend gorging on desserts and egg nog, but don’t try to pack too much into it.You’ll get stressed out and you won’t get to really enjoy the time you do actually get to spend with the people closest to you. There’s always those certain people that expect you to make an appearance over the holidays, so plan carefully and budget your time wisely. We all know you don’t want to spend 9 hours at Aunt Sally’s sampling her fruitcake and jellied yams when you could simply visit for an hour and let her know that she’s important to you.
  2. Relax:It’s time to relax, not freak out over who is coming over and how clean everything is and how much food you need to have prepared for them. Whether you’re traveling near or far, remember that you will enjoy yourself much more if you can be flexible and prepared to live with all the other people doing the same thing. Take it easy; slow things down a bit and everyone else in your life will thank you for it.
  3. Remember that everyone else is trying to get somewhere, too: You’re not the only one traveling this season. Remember that a big chunk of the world is going to be mobilizing and trying to get to the wherever they are going, just like you. It makes travel a lot more interesting, rather than bothersome!
  4. Be patient: You’ll enjoy your travel experience a lot more if you expect the worst and hope for the best. There will be crowds: make friends. There will be traffic: sing with the radio. If you’re patient and easy going, it will spread to those around you. The opposite is true as well.
  5. Keep your focus on what’s really important: Your friends and family are what’s most important this season. This is the time of year when people can gather and celebrate together and be joyful to be in good company. It’s not about how good Martha’s crab dip is or Howie’s new golf clubs; invest your time in those around and you and you’ll be
    sure to earn great dividends.
  6. Don’t Over-pack: It’s always necessary to bring enough clothes to cover many occasions over the holidays, but packing light will make things easier; not only for your trip there, but on the way back you might be bringing more home than you left with! Pack sharp clothes than can be mixed and matched for different occasions, rather than a whole new outfit for each outing. You’ll look great and travel light!
  7. Look for something unique: No matter where you’re going this season, keep any eye out for a unique way that the locals celebrate. In Key West, the locals party all over the island, while in Williamsburg the locals celebrate engrossed in history!

Everything is winding down for now, so make use of these tips while you can. Also, keep in mind that you can still take advantage of our last minute hot deals and get a bargain on that vacation you’ve always wanted to take but never had the time! We hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season and enjoy it to the fullest. Keep coming back for more articles and great vacation rental deals in 2008!
