Virginia Beach Green Restaurants Just Aren’t for Treehuggers
Virginia Governor Tim Kaine has declared 2009 as the “Year of the Environment. ” This means travelers to the commonwealth should make an extra effort in reducing their carbon footprint and do what they can to preserve the environment. This doesn’t mean waking up at o’dark-thirty in the morning and picking up trash along the roadside (although that’s nice), it just means watching your footprint and make green choices.
Virginia Beach has been recognized by Gov. Kaine as the first “Virginia Green Destination” so planning a green Virginia vacation to this ocean side community is easy. The best place to reduce the carbon footprint is at he dinner table. There are nearly two dozen designated green restaurants in Virginia Beach ranging from a coffee house to fine dining.
Check out the list of Virginia Beach green restaurants at the Virginia Green site. Or, make it simple and book a table at Virginia’s first green restaurant, Croc’s 19th Street Bistro. The eco-bistro earned its green status the summer of 2007. The menu is influenced by American and Lebanese flavors made with locally grown and organic ingredients. Before dinner (or lunch), savor an Org-A-Tini made with certified organic Square One Vodka or ask to see the organic wine list. Entree prices range between $7 and $27.

Some of the things to do in the state park include 19 miles of nature trails, boating, fishing, swimming, and educational programs. Those with Virginia saltwater licenses can even go crabbing right off the shore. […]
