Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival: Oct. 30 – Nov. 1, 2009
Vroom! Car enthusiasts and gear heads are making travel plans to attend the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival set for Oct. 30 – Nov. 1, 2009. Over the course of three days, Hilton Head Island travelers will experience four amazing motoring events. They are:
Savannah/Hilton Head Speed Classic: Oct. 30 & 31 at Hutchinson Island Track, Georgia
This is a two-day track event with vintage racing, autocross courses and lap rides in favorite sports car models.
Motoring Midway: Oct. 31 & Nov. 1 at Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn, Hilton Head Island
The Memory Lane to the Fast Lane exhibit traces the evolution of the automotive industry and features new and old including bikes from around the globe and representing various time periods. The exhibit “Life on the Road” will depict a century of living along the highway in motor homes, off-road vehicles, RVs, and trailers.
Car Club Jamboree: Oct. 31 at Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn, Hilton Head Island
Car clubs featuring British engineering such as Aston Martin, Austin Healey, Jaguar, MG and Rolls-Royce will be displaying more than 150 cars on the field. Previous Car Club Jamborees have been described as an “eclectic mix covering history of the automobile.”
Concours D’Elegance: Nov. 1 at Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn, Hilton Head Island
The competition heats up on Nov. 1 when 150 vintage cars and motorcycles will compete for various awards in this celebration of Mercedes-Benz. In 2008, a 1928 Packard 4-43 Phaeton won Best of Show and Most Outstanding Pre-1945 Car. Applications are still being accepted for motorcycles to participate in the 2009 event but registration is closed for cars however, applications for vehicles are being accepted for the 2010 Concourse d’Elegance.
