Walt Disney World’s Fantasyland is Expanding, 3-D “Star Tours” Coming to California, Florida Disney Parks
Little girls and boys (and grown up ones, too) visiting Walt Disney World in Orlando will be able to dance with Cinderella in her castle; fly with Dumbo with a new interactive, three-ring circus tent; and journey under the sea with the Little Mermaid with her new attraction when 2013 rolls around. The folks at Disney seem to be ignoring the fact there’s a recession happening because Fantasyland is undergoing its largest ever expansion and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo unveiled the enhancements during the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, last week.
Other new attractions to the Magic Kingdom include:
- Ability to visit a Disney Princess in her castle, cottage or chateau;
- Dine in an enchanted room in the Beast’s castle;
- Meet Tinkerbell and friends in Pixie Hollow;
- In addition, debuting at Disneyland Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2011 is a 3-D version of the popular “Star Tours” attraction. Based on “Star Wars” films, the out of this world attraction promises to take guests to familiar places in the Star Wars galaxy.
A new “World of Color” attraction is slated to open in Spring 2010 at Disney’s California Adventure along with a 12-acre Cars Land on schedule to open in 2012. In this attraction, guests will step into the town of Radiator Springs and six acres of hand-carved rockwork.
Recession or not, Disney seems to continue creating magic for all generations.
