“Guy Walks Across America” is the latest YouTube video sensation stopping viewers in their tracks and in the work place. Uploaded on July 20, 2010, the less-than-two-minute, feel-good video already has more than 1.8 million views and counting. Over 2,000 still images follow a handsome dude named Mike on a 14-day cross country journey to compile the mesmerizing video.
Beginning at the Brooklyn Bridge, the journey ends at the San Francisco Bridge and travels through cities as Washington, D.C., Chicago and Las Vegas. Check out Mike’s travel itinerary over on Google maps which contains witty little insights about the making of the video.
In addition to the intriguing imagery is catchy music streaming through the video. The upbeat tune is called “Home” performed by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
The video was shot on a shoestring budget, we just don’t know how long that shoestring is, and word is Levi’s came in as a sponsor. This makes the perfect match, since the video primarily follows Mike from behind. Another tidbit is the cast and crew traveled in a recreational vehicle and edited video along the way.
